Spider Vein Treatment

There are several treatments for spider veins: sclerotherapy, radiofrequency treatment with Vein Gogh®, Vascular Laser and IPL™ (intense pulsed light) ablation. Many patients require a combination of treatments for the best result.

Dr. Ellis uses FDA-approved medications called Sotradecol® and Asclera® for sclerotherapy. These agents are place in the spider veins through a small needle, causing the vein to seal shut. Once the vein is sealed, blood flows into healthier veins. The treated vein is absorbed and eventually disappears. Sotradecol® and Aslcera® give much better results and are far less painful than traditional hypertonic saline injections.

Tired of seeing sunken cheeks, indentations and hollow-appearing eyes? Sculptra® can help. This safe, biocompatible material is injected just below the surface of the skin, using a very fine needle, to plump up sunken facial tissue. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness as it works, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. Most patients find the procedure quite comfortable. Treatment results differ for each person, but the effects typically last up to two years after the first session.

Dysport® is the easy, safe and effective way to get rid of frown lines and crow's feet without surgery or scars.
The treatment needs no anesthetic, takes only a few minutes, and its effects usually last from three to five months. Your facial muscles relax and retrain themselves in response to the medication, so less Botox® Cosmetic or Dysport® is needed for subsequent treatments. Some patients also experience a nice side effect – relief from tension headaches caused by “frown” muscle contractions.

Spider Vein treatments

There are two treatments for spider veins, sclerotherapy and Laser or IPL™ (intense pulsed light) ablation. Many patients require a combination of both treatments for the best result.

Dr. Ellis uses an FDA-approved solution called Sotradecol® for sclerotherapy. This agent is injected into the spider vein through a small needle, causing the vein to seal shut. Once the vein is sealed, blood flows into healthier veins. The treated vein is absorbed and eventually becomes nearly invisible or disappears altogether. Sotradecol® gives much better results and is far less painful than the traditional hypertonic saline injections.

Laser and broad band light treatment of spider veins is accomplished using the Sciton Profile Laser System, the Dornier 940nm diode laser or the Lumenis Quantum Intense Pulsed Light™ system. These laser and light systems produce highly vein-specific wavelengths, which safely pass through the skin and seal the targeted vessels. The Lumenis Quantum IPL™ system is used to treat very fine spider veins on the legs, chest and face.
